This journal aims to generate innovative, evidence-based, and impactful scholarship that integrates Islamic dakwah studies, Islamic communication, Islamic values, and contemporary socio-religious research to address contemporary issues faced by Muslim communities in the world and the global society. ISDAR positions itself as a pioneering platform for the development of integrated dakwah scholarship, connecting classical Islamic knowledge, digital transformation, and community empowerment through its distinctive Dakwah–Technology–Transformation (DTT) paradigm to produce knowledge that is relevant and significant globally.
Focus
ISDAR: Journal of Islamic Dakwah and Research focuses on developing Islamic dakwah as a contemporary knowledge system by integrating Islamic teachings with modern communication studies and socio-religious research. Its primary emphasis is on the advancement of theoretical and empirical studies of dakwah in contemporary contexts, including digital communication and community transformation, particularly through the distinctive Dakwah–Technology–Transformation (DTT) paradigm.
Scope
ISDAR: Journal of Islamic Dakwah and Research welcomes scholarly work that falls within the scope of Islamic dakwah, socio-religious research, communication studies, and community development. These themes are organized into three major areas (but are not limited to):
- Dakwah Studies and Islamic Communication (research that examines the theories, methods, practices, and ethics of dakwah and Islamic communication, including contemporary reinterpretations of dakwah as a scientific knowledge system).
- Digital Dakwah and the DTT Paradigm (studies exploring how digital media, artificial intelligence, and technological transformation reshape dakwah expression, religious communication, and Muslim community engagement within the distinctive Dakwah–Technology–Transformation (DTT) framework).
- Socio-Religious Studies and Community Transformation (research on Muslim social behavior, identity and community dynamics, religious moderation, radicalism, social change, local wisdom, community resilience, and value-based transformation grounded in Islamic principles, particularly those that inform or intersect with dakwah practices).

Editorial Workflow
ISDAR: Journal of Islamic Dakwah and Research uses Open Journal Systems 3.4.0.9, which is open-source journal management and publishing software developed, supported, and freely distributed by the Public Knowledge Project under the GNU General Public License. The entire editorial workflow is performed using the Open Journal System (OJS). The editorial workflow gives the Editors the authority to reject any manuscript because of the inappropriateness of its subject, lack of quality, or incorrectness of its results. The Editor cannot assign himself/ herself as an external reviewer of the manuscript. This is to ensure a high-quality, fair, and unbiased peer-review process of every manuscript submitted to the journal since any manuscript must be recommended by two or more external reviewers along with the Editor in charge of the manuscript in order for it to be accepted for publication in the journal.
This journal received more submissions than it could issue. Editors can reject manuscripts without a peer review process if they are judged not to meet the minimum required journal qualifications. All manuscripts submitted to this journal must follow its focus, scope, and author guidelines. To be published in ISDAR: Journal of Islamic Dakwah and Research, a manuscript should meet seven (7) general criteria:...More...
Peer Review Process
ISDAR: Journal of Islamic Dakwah and Research adheres to a Double-Blind Review process that is rapid and fair and also ensures a high quality of articles published. Through the Double-Blind Review system, both reviewers and authors are anonymous. This anonymity helps prevent reviewer bias, such as biases based on the author's country of origin or any previous controversial work. Manuscripts written by prestigious or well-known authors are considered based on their content, not their reputation. This statement is based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers.
All manuscripts submitted to this journal will go through a peer-review process. If your manuscript is potentially suitable for this journal after passing the editor's initial screening, then the editor will send it to the reviewers. All manuscripts will be reviewed by at least 2 (two) experts with the "Double-Blind Review" system (both reviewers' and authors' identities remain anonymous). The review process may take 2–4 months. Articles accepted with minor or major revisions should be revised as the reviewers’ comments and suggestions. The reviewers will then send their reports and a recommendation to the editor:
- Accept Submission;
- Revisions Required;
- Resubmit for Review;
- Resubmit Elsewhere;
- Decline Submission.
The decision acceptance for publication, amendment, or rejection will be made by Editors according to reviewers' comments, or recommendations. In certain cases, if needed, the editor may send the manuscript to another reviewer for review (Second Round), before making a decision. Publication of accepted manuscripts, including the sequence of published manuscripts will be made by the Editor in Chief by considering the sequence of accepted dates and geographical distribution of authors as well as thematic issues. It normally takes about 7 months to 1 year from submission to publication, with an average of 6 months.
Reviewer Ethics and Policy Statements
Peer review is an essential component of the scholarly publication process that ensures the integrity, quality, and credibility of the research published in this journal. Reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining academic standards by providing objective, fair, and timely evaluations of submitted manuscripts. Their assessments help the editorial team make informed decisions and assist authors in improving their work. If the Editor-in-Chief or the Editorial Team has invited you to review a manuscript, please consider the following guidelines carefully and adhere to them throughout the review process.
- If you accept, you must treat the materials you receive as confidential documents. This means you can’t share them with anyone without prior authorization from the editor. Since peer review is confidential, you also must not share information about the review with anyone without permission from the editors and authors;
- Not involve anyone else in the review of a manuscript, including junior researchers they are mentoring, without first obtaining permission from the journal; the names of any individuals who have helped them with the review should be included with the returned review so that they are associated with the manuscript in the journal’s records and can also receive due credit for their efforts;
- Notify the editor journal as soon as possible if they find they do not have the expertise to assess all aspects of the manuscript; they shouldn’t wait until submitting their review as this will unduly delay the review process;... More...

Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific Writing
Authors must declare the use of generative AI in scientific writing upon submission of the paper. The following guidance refers only to the writing process and not to the use of AI tools to analyse and draw insights from data as part of the research process:
- Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies should only be used in the writing process to improve the readability and language of the manuscript.
- The technology must be applied with human oversight and control, and authors should carefully review and edit the result, as AI can generate authoritative-sounding output that can be incorrect, incomplete, or biased. Authors are ultimately responsible and accountable for the contents of the work.
- Authors must not list or cite AI and AI-assisted technologies as an author or co-author on the manuscript since authorship implies responsibilities and tasks that can only be attributed to and performed by humans.
The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing must be declared by adding a statement at the end of the manuscript when the paper is first submitted. The statement will appear in the published work and should be placed in a new section before the references list. An example:
- Title of new section: Declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process.
- Statement: During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [NAME TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the published article.
The declaration does not apply to the use of basic tools, such as tools used to check grammar, spelling, and references. If you have nothing to disclose, you do not need to add a statement. Please read the journal author policy on the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies, which can be found in our GenAI Policies.
Please note: to protect authors’ rights and the confidentiality of their research, this journal does not currently allow the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies such as ChatGPT or similar services by reviewers or editors in the peer review and manuscript evaluation process, as is stated in our GenAI Policies. We are actively evaluating compliant AI tools and may revise this policy in the future.
