Aims

ISDAR: Journal of Islamic Dakwah and Research is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to serving as an academic forum for the advancement of Islamic dakwah studies, Islamic communication, socio-religious research, and research development grounded in Islamic values. The journal is committed to promoting high-quality, innovative, and impactful scholarly works that contribute to the growth of scientific knowledge and address contemporary issues faced by Muslim communities and society at large.

ISDAR emphasizes the publication of research that holds both theoretical and practical significance for the development of contemporary Islamic dakwah, community empowerment, and social transformation within the context of Indonesia and the broader Muslim world.

ISDAR focuses on publishing scientific articles related directly to: Islamic dakwah and religious communication, Community development grounded in Islamic values, Contemporary socio-religious studies, Islamic social, cultural, and educational transformation, Digital, technological, and media-based dakwah innovations, Analyses of social phenomena among Muslim urban and rural communities, The journal’s focus encourages multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches within the fields of Islamic dakwah studies and Islamic social research.

Scope

The scope of ISDAR encompasses a wide range of scholarly inquiries that include Islamic dakwah, socio-religious research, communication studies, and community development. These themes are organized into three major areas: 

  1. Islamic : The Islamic theme covers comprehensive studies focused on Islamic values, thought, law, education, and culture. This scope includes research on: (Islamic law, such as contemporary fiqh, religious legislation, family law, muamalah, and human rights issues from an Islamic perspective, Islamic thought, including philosophy, theology, creed, Sufism, spirituality, ethics, and Islamic intellectual history, Islamic education, covering curriculum studies in Islamic Religious Education, character education, educational technology in Islamic settings, and institutional development in Islamic education, Islamic culture, including studies on Nusantara Islamic traditions, local wisdom, Muslim identity, and cultural practices within Muslim communities
  1. Dakwah : The Dakwah theme highlights approaches, strategies, communication methods, and social transformation within contemporary Islamic dakwah. This includes studies on: (Dakwah communication, such as rhetoric, message design, interpersonal, group, and mass communication, as well as communication ethics and religious literacy to strengthen religious moderation, Digital dakwah, including social media usage, creative content, podcasts, streaming platforms, artificial intelligence technologies, and digital-era dakwah message design, Empowerment-based dakwah, focusing on social transformation through strengthening community capacities—such as mosque-based programs, Islamic organization empowerment, economic empowerment, and professional development for religious counselors, Dakwah management, covering governance of dakwah institutions, management of Islamic organizations, human resource development in dakwah, and community dakwah program management
  1. Research : The Research theme includes socio-religious studies integrating multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives to understand the dynamics of Muslim communities. This scope includes: (Socio-religious studies, examining religious behavior, urban and rural Muslim dynamics, moderation and radicalism, and social change within Muslim communities, Islamic social and humanities research, encompassing Islamic anthropology, psychology of Muslim communities, gender and social justice, local wisdom, and human geography, Policy and socio-religious governance, analyzing social policies, public administration, community empowerment, social harmony, and conflict resolution, Media and society research, focusing on the role of media in shaping religious discourse, Islamic media literacy, intercultural communication, and the social construction of Muslim communities through modern media
